A New Kind of Shopping Experience
TikTok Shop officially launched in Poland on June 15, 2026, marking the platform's first foray into Eastern Europe. The service, which allows users to purchase products directly within the TikTok app without being redirected to external online stores, is now available in Poland alongside Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
TikTok introduces the "discovery e-commerce" model, where shopping is driven by impulse, emotion, and algorithmic recommendations rather than active search. Users can make purchases through:
“This is not just another marketplace.”
EuroAsia.News, reporting from Warsaw
- Short product videos in the "For You" feed, with an orange shopping cart linking directly to an in-app product card
- Live shopping streams (LIVE) where they can ask questions and buy in real-time
- Brand and creator profiles serving as dedicated storefronts
- A personalized "Shop" tab featuring algorithm-recommended products
For Polish consumers, this means shopping becomes an extension of entertainment. "Every second user says they discover new products and brands on this platform," TikTok stated, pointing to a user base of over 14.2 million active users in Poland.
The Allegro Challenge
The entry of TikTok Shop poses a fresh and potentially serious challenge to Allegro.eu, Poland's dominant online marketplace and a company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam. For years, Allegro has built its position on a traditional marketplace model where visibility is bought through advertising, not earned through organic content.
The fundamental difference is in the shopping psychology. On Allegro, consumers compare prices for the same SKUs, which triggers price wars and compresses margins. On TikTok Shop, the decision is made under emotion generated by content—customers pay for convenience and the "here and now" feeling rather than the lowest price.
The platform's algorithm is a powerful equalizer. A product video from an unknown company can go viral overnight and generate thousands of orders without a single złoty spent on advertising—a mechanism that traditional marketplaces simply do not offer.
However, the average order value (AOV) on TikTok Shop tends to hover around the strategic impulse threshold of 100–150 PLN—an amount that doesn't trigger deep budget analysis. This suggests TikTok Shop may initially capture smaller, impulse-driven purchases rather than big-ticket items.
Local Infrastructure: InPost and BLIK
TikTok has strategically partnered with Polish logistics and payment leaders to ensure a seamless experience. InPost, the parcel locker operator with over 29,000 Paczkomaty across Poland, has been named a key logistics partner. Deliveries will default to InPost lockers, with returns also handled through the same network.
InPost's founder and CEO Rafał Brzoska welcomed the development: "TikTok Shop's entry into the Polish market is a clear signal that the e-commerce ecosystem is maturing and offering consumers more and more options".
BLIK, Poland's dominant mobile payment system, has also been named a preferred payment provider. This localization—adapting to Polish payment and delivery habits—is seen as a smart move to reduce friction for new users.
Retailer Response and Early Adopters
Many well-known Polish and international brands are preparing for the launch. Sellers from categories including fashion, beauty, and lifestyle will be present from day one. Confirmed early adopters include:
- Inglot, Bielenda, Wedel, Kubota (Polish brands)
- Philips, Xiaomi, Samsung (international electronics)
- Hebes, Rossmann, Castorama, x-com** (retail chains)
Modivo, a major Polish fashion e-commerce platform, sees TikTok Shop as a way to reach younger customers who expect more interactive engagement. "TikTok Shop is a new medium that we all have to get to know, but already today it reaches many young people who are looking for something different—especially live shopping and new forms of communication," said Łukasz Traczyk, Director of Alternative Sales Channels at MODIVO PLATFORM.
The "Sell Across Europe" Opportunity
Perhaps the most compelling proposition for Polish sellers is the "Sell Across Europe" feature. With a single registration, local businesses can sell across all EU markets where TikTok Shop is active, with automatic product localization and access to affiliate creator networks. This effectively transforms TikTok Shop into a pan-European sales channel for Polish merchants.
The Competitive Landscape
TikTok Shop's entry adds to the growing competitive pressure on Allegro. The platform joins Amazon, Temu, and Shein as alternative sales channels. Yet TikTok Shop's social commerce model is fundamentally different—it's about discovery, not comparison shopping.
The stakes are high. Poland's e-commerce market is projected to reach 190 billion złotys by 2030, according to Statista. As the traditional boundaries between social media and shopping continue to blur, Allegro and other established players will need to respond—or risk losing a generation of consumers who discover products through viral videos rather than search boxes.
