EuroAsia.News is published at euroasia.news by Climate Index Network Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom, which is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

We collect only what the site actually needs:

• audience statistics about how pages are read (section 3);
• your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter (section 4);
• what you submit when you vote in a reader poll, send a contribution to a debate, or follow a topic (section 5);
• advertising measurement data, only with your consent (section 6).

We do not sell personal data, we do not run profiling that produces legal effects, and we do not build advertising profiles of individual readers ourselves.

We run our own analytics rather than a third-party analytics product, and we separate two different kinds of measurement.

(a) Server-side page-delivery statistics. When our server delivers a page it writes a narrow record containing only the path, the article and section, the country of the request at country level, a coarse traffic source and campaign labels. This record contains no cookie, no browser storage and no persistent visitor or session identifier, and it stores no IP address, user-agent string, full referrer URL or query string. It runs on the legal basis of our legitimate interest in knowing that our journalism is being delivered and in keeping the service secure and reliable.

(b) Browser-based engagement analytics, only after you accept. If you accept non-essential storage, we additionally record, for each page view: whether it was the first page of a visit; the position of the page view within the visit; the previous page on the site; the traffic source and the referring website’s domain; campaign labels (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign); a coarse device type, browser family and operating system family; your browser window size; and the time of the visit. We also record reading engagement: scroll depth milestones, foreground reading time (capped at 15 minutes per page view), and clicks on internal links.

These records are linked to a random visitor identifier and a session identifier stored in your browser (see section 7). Both are randomly generated; they are not derived from your name, email, account, IP address or any fingerprinting signal, and they are never shared with a third party.

Until you accept, and again if you reject or change your choice to reject, these identifiers are not created, not read and not written, and no browser-based analytics or engagement events are sent. Only the server-side statistics in (a) continue.

If you subscribe we store your email address, the newsletter product you asked for, where you signed up, and the relevant timestamps. Subscription uses double opt-in: we first create a pending record and email you a confirmation link. You are only added to the mailing list when you click that link, and the link can be used once.

We store delivery metadata returned by our email provider for each subscriber — a message identifier, delivery state, reason and timestamp — so that we can stop emailing addresses that bounce or complain. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Newsletter emails are sent through Lovable’s managed email service from the domain notify.euroasia.news.

Reader polls are anonymous. Your vote is stored against a random token held in your browser so that a poll can be answered once per browser; no name or email is required or stored.

Debate contributions are moderated. We store the display name you give, your contribution, your chosen stance, the language of the page and, if you choose to provide it, your email address so we can contact you about your contribution. Submissions are never published automatically.

Following a topic records your email address against that topic and follows the same double opt-in confirmation as the newsletter.

We use the Google Ads tag (AW-18445256740) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. The tag is implemented with Google Consent Mode v2: before it is configured, advertising and analytics storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are all set to denied. Only functionality and security storage — which carry no advertising identifier — are granted by default.

Until you accept non-essential cookies, the tag stores nothing on your device and can send Google only cookieless signals. If you accept, Google may set advertising cookies and process this data as an independent controller for advertising measurement, which can involve transfers outside the UK and EEA under the safeguards Google publishes.

You can change your decision at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of every page.

Essential and functional storage keeps the site working and remembers your choices. Non-essential storage — our analytics identifiers and Google’s advertising cookies — is used only after you accept.

• Consent — advertising and analytics cookies and equivalent browser storage, and the Google Ads tag’s use of them. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Consent — newsletter subscriptions and topic follows, confirmed by double opt-in.
• Legitimate interests — operating and securing the website, preventing abuse, moderating reader contributions, and understanding in aggregate which journalism reaches readers.

Our website and database run on Lovable Cloud, which uses Supabase for database, storage and authentication, with delivery through Cloudflare’s network. Newsletter and transactional email is sent through Lovable’s managed email service. These providers act as processors on our instructions.

Google acts as an independent controller for advertising measurement data collected through the Google Ads tag once you consent. Some of these providers operate internationally, so data may be transferred outside the UK and EEA; where that happens it is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

We keep personal data only for as long as it is necessary for the purpose it was collected for. Newsletter records are kept while your subscription is active and, after you unsubscribe, only as long as needed to honour that request. Analytics records, which carry no directly identifying information, are kept for audience reporting. Where our systems do not set a fixed period, we review and delete data when it is no longer needed rather than keeping it indefinitely.

Under UK GDPR and, where it applies, EU GDPR, you have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, and portability of data you provided to us. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.

The quickest ways to exercise these rights yourself are the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, and Cookie settings in the site footer for cookie consent. For anything else, contact us (section 16).

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or, if you are in the EEA, to your national supervisory authority.

EuroAsia.News is a general-interest news publication intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Access to reader data is restricted to authorised editorial and technical staff and is protected by authenticated accounts and database-level access rules. Newsletter confirmation links are stored only as hashes and expire. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the amount of personal data we hold to the minimum the site needs.

Our journalism links to external sources and cites documents held on other websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for.

We update this policy when our data practices change. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised; material changes will be highlighted on the site.
